Multinational Food Insecurity Relief Effort - May - July 2024
With so much turmoil going on in the world, it is important to remain cognizant of areas that are not receiving attention and coverage.
There are intense humanitarian crises currently in Haiti, Kenya, Congo, and Sudan. Food insecurity is perhaps the biggest concern as scores of people are without nourishment.
Kenya
Kenya has had a rough 2024 so far from floods in the earlier part of the year to the recent protests against a proposed finance bill. As a result, food has become scarce.
However, to those who donated to the on-going Multinational Food Insecurity Relief Effort, thank you very much. While in Kenya this week, I had the honor to coordinate with @bantu_ntu who was instrumental in distributing food to a school in Mombasa via the donations from the Multinational Food Insecurity Relief Effort. In addition to the food, she also distributed school supplies, reusable water bottles, sporting goods, and three of @jameswrites615 wonderful books - “Teach Me About Garvey”, “Red, Black and Green: Tell Me What It Means”, and “Teach Me About Malcolm”. In addition to the aforementioned, organic feminine products from @thewomenshaven were distributed as part of Dema Dimbaya’s on-going campaign to supply girls and women with feminine hygiene products.
Congo
Thank you to all who donated to and/ or shared the on-going Multinational Food Insecurity Relief Effort to support Haiti, Sudan, Congo, Kenya, and South Sudan.
Here is a “thank you” video from an orphanage in Congo expressing gratitude for helping to purchase food for the children there. The war in Congo has ravaged several areas of the nation and has caused food shortages for the most vulnerable people in the nation. Dema Dimbaya will continue to support this orphanage for the foreseeable future.
