Since the war in eastern Congo has intensified, food insecurity has increased as well. For approximately 60 children in an orphanage in Goma, meals have been cut in half. Last week, Dema Dimbaya sent funds for food and the children responded with a “thank you” photo. The orphanage is requesting assistance as low as $10 to help purchase and stockpile more food for the children.  You can help by visiting the PayPal, Cashapp, or Venmo links on DemaDimbaya.org.

This is the same orphanage Dema Dimbaya has worked with to address food insecurity in the summer of 2024 and donated Christmas gifts in December 2024.  You see recaps of both projects on Dema Dimbaya’s website, Instagram, and Tik Tok pages.

One of the tragedies of war is the impact it has on those not actively in battle—especially the most vulnerable members of a society. Since the war in Congo has been at its current state, food shortages have been frequent. For nearly a year, Dema Dimbaya has worked with an orphanage in Goma - the hardest hit region of the current war - to fight against food insecurity for the children in and around the orphanage.

The photos in this post are the result of a recent fund raiser to provide nourishment for the children who shared their gratitude for how they have been assisted. We are always accepting donations via Cashapp, PayPal, and Venmo for those who are able and willing to do so.

We experience their impact on our lives each time we use an electronic device. They should experience our impact on their lives by assisting them while they are forced to navigate a war for resources that power our electronic devices.
