ABOUT US
Dema Dimbaya is a non-profit organization based in the United States developed with core values personified through domestic & international assistance, rooted in consistency & commitment. The mission of Dema Dimbaya is to stabilize the life of those affected by natural or man-made catastrophic events while seeking to improve the lives of those in developing areas and lower socioeconomic statuses. The elevation of humanity through relief efforts includes, but is not limited to, on-going projects tied to international orphanages, women's health, educational support, access to medical supplies, as well as nutrition and clean water programs.
Originally identified as The Black Starr, between 2016 - 2019, Dema Dimbaya finalized its relaunching in 2020 under a revised moniker but our work never took a break. We have successfully contributed to transnational regions of Tanzania, South Africa, Haiti, The Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and various regions of the United States.
"Dema" reflects "providing support" while "Dimbaya" translates to "family", placed together they represent "providing support to family", a combination of two words from the Mandinka ethnic group of western Africa. The logo "Boa Me Na Me Mmoa Wo", is a Adinkra symbol that represents cooperation and interdependence which means “help me and let me help you.”
